Objective: VEJA, a global leader in sustainable footwear, aimed to expand into South Korea, a key Asian market for eco-friendly. To achieve this, they required streamlined management of complex local administrative processes, including banking, taxation, and legal compliance, to ensure a swift and compliant market entry.

Project Background

As VEJA’s global footprint grew, entering the South Korean market became a strategic move to meet the increasing demand for sustainable fashion in Asia. However, setting up a subsidiary (FIE, foreign-invested company) in a highly regulated environment posed significant challenges. From banking and taxation to legal compliance and document authentication, VEJA needed to navigate complex procedures that could potentially delay its expansion. The language barrier and differences in administrative frameworks further complicated the process.

The Challenge

To successfully establish a subsidiary (FIE, foreign-invested company) in South Korea, VEJA had to meet strict documentation requirements, including official registrations, tax filings, and legal translations. Without proper guidance, these steps could lead to costly delays and operational setbacks. The brand needed a trusted partner to simplify the process, ensuring a smooth and efficient market entry.

Solutions

Understanding the urgency of VEJA’s expansion, we provided tailored support to handle the administrative and legal complexities, allowing the brand to focus on its core mission. Our expertise included:

  • Regulatory Navigation & Compliance: We assisted in preparing and submitting all required French-language documents for Korean banks, the business registry, and tax authorities, ensuring VEJA met all regulatory obligations.
  •  Legalization & Certification Expertise: To prevent administrative delays, we provided step-by-step guidance on notarization, apostille certification, and legal translation, streamlining the approval process.
  • Bilingual Administrative Support: We facilitated clear and accurate communication by providing expert Korean translations for key documents, bridging the gap between VEJA and local authorities.
  • Accelerated Market Entry: By optimizing bureaucratic procedures, we helped VEJA fast-track the establishment of its Korean entity, minimizing delays and ensuring a smooth transition into the market.

Results

With our strategic support, VEJA successfully established its subsidiary (FIE, foreign-invested company) in South Korea in February. The legal, financial, and regulatory frameworks are now fully in place, allowing the brand to operate smoothly and focus on expanding its presence in the market. This milestone not only marks the completion of the setup process but also reinforces VEJA’s commitment to sustainability and ethical fashion in Asia.

As VEJA embarks on this new chapter in Korea, we remain available to provide ongoing guidance, ensuring their operations continue seamlessly.
