Objectives: The project aimed to improve healthcare infrastructure in three remote provinces – Dien Bien, Dak Nong, and Quang Binh – by providing six state-of-the-art sterilization machines. This initiative overcame successfully logistical and regulatory hurdles, demonstrating the power of strategic partnerships in addressing social challenges.

Project Background:

Tesalys, a leading manufacturer of medical waste treatment equipment, sought to contribute to healthcare improvement in Vietnam. However, as a foreign entity, they faced challenges in navigating the country’s regulatory landscape and establishing a local presence. A united nations intergovernmental organization (UN) dedicated to improving healthcare access sought support in procuring and distributing medical equipment.

This presented an opportunity for Source of Asia (SOA), a leading international consultancy with expertise in logistics, customs clearance, and project management, to facilitate this tripartite collaboration.

Solutions:

SOA team effectively addressed these challenges by:

  • Site Assessment and Preparation: We conducted comprehensive site evaluations at healthcare facilities, implementing necessary infrastructure upgrades to accommodate the sterilization machines.
  • Importation and Logistics Management: We navigated the complexities of the Vietnamese importation process, including customs clearance, and coordinated the transportation of machines to the three provinces (two machines per province).
  • Installation and Certification: The team handled the installation and rigorous testing of the machines to ensure operational safety and compliance, securing the necessary certifications for use.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: The initiative was guided by a global health-focused entity, ensuring collaboration with healthcare institutions and regulatory bodies for project validation.

Results:

  • Six state-of-the-art sterilization machines were delivered and installed in three remote provinces, enhancing the capacity of local healthcare facilities.
  • The new equipment improved hygiene standards and reduced the risk of infection, benefiting countless patients in underserved communities.
  • The project demonstrated the effectiveness of a public-private partnership in addressing critical healthcare needs.

The collaboration of Tesalys, Source of Asia, and the united nations intergovernmental organization (UN), serves as a model for successful public-private partnerships in addressing critical healthcare needs in developing countries. By overcoming logistical and regulatory hurdles, this project delivered tangible benefits to underserved communities, demonstrating the power of collaboration in creating positive social impact.
