ASEAN is entering a new growth cycle. At the same time, global business is facing more friction. Costs are rising. Supply chains are moving. Market rules are changing faster. That is why Globallians hosted a new edition of Les RDV de l’International, featuring Source of Asia (SOA) on December 17, 2025. The session focused on a clear topic: ASEAN 2026 market trends and high-potential sectors.

Led by Mr. Xavier POULIQUEN (Head of Business Development, Source of Asia), the webinar provided a practical overview of the shifts in Southeast Asia. It also highlighted where companies can act next, with lower risk and faster time-to-market. This online session brought together Globallians members and companies seeking reliable guidance on international expansion into ASEAN in 2026, clearly and concisely. Then, support them to identify high-growth potential sectors and practical entry paths.

Key Takeaways

  • Rising costs, supply chain disruptions, and faster-changing market rules are reshaping global strategies.
  • Manufacturing and sourcing are moving toward Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia.
  • Digital tools are scaling across finance, retail, logistics, and healthcare. Thus, companies must prepare for faster competition, higher expectations, and stronger compliance needs.
  • Electronics, EV & automotive, wood & furniture, agrifood, services & tech, healthcare & med-tech show structural growth toward 2026, supported by demand and investment trends.
  • The SOA “5Ps” (Preparation, Perseverance, Prudence, Presence, Professionalism) will help companies reduce risk and accelerate time-to-market in ASEAN.

What Changed in the Global Context & Why It Matters

The session started with a reality check. Many companies have faced supply chain disruption in recent years. As a result, supply continuity has become a strategic priority. In addition, higher labor and logistics costs are pushing firms to rethink where they produce and source.

However, the key point was not “risk only.” Instead, it was about building resilience while staying cost-effective. Therefore, companies are looking for regions that can support both sourcing and growth.

ASEAN 2026 in one view: scale, growth, and market access

ASEAN is not a single market. Yet, as a region, it offers strong fundamentals. During the webinar, SOA shared a concise ASEAN snapshot:

  • 10 countries with complementary strengths.
  • About 692 million people live in a region with a large consumer base.
  • A rising role in global trade and supply chains.
  • Strong momentum toward becoming a top global economy by 2030.

Just as important, ASEAN is known for trade openness. Several countries hold extensive free trade agreement coverage. Moreover, regional frameworks support cross-border supply chains.

In other words, ASEAN is both:

  1. a sourcing hub, and
  2. a final market with growing demand.

To help attendees plan, the session highlighted the most actionable market trends for 2026.

  • Supply chains are relocating toward Southeast Asia

Companies are diversifying production beyond traditional footprints. Therefore, ASEAN is gaining share as a practical alternative for industrial sourcing and manufacturing. In particular, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia often lead shortlists, depending on the sector.

  • The middle class keeps expanding

ASEAN is expected to add a large wave of new consumers by 2030. As a result, demand is growing for better products, safer food, stronger healthcare, and premium services. This trend supports both B2C and B2B opportunities.

  • Digital adoption is accelerating across industries

Digital tools are scaling across finance, retail, logistics, and health. Consequently, companies must plan for faster competition, new customer expectations, and stronger compliance requirements.

  • Trade frameworks improve market reach

With broad FTA networks and regional trade frameworks, many ASEAN-based strategies can serve multiple markets. That makes ASEAN more relevant for companies that want both local sales and export flexibility.

High-potential Sectors Discussed During Webinar

Based on market signals and SOA’s field work, the session highlighted several top high-potential investment sectors for ASEAN 2026:

  • Electronics and industrial machinery (notably Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand)
  • Automotive and EV ecosystems (Thailand and Indonesia often stand out)
  • Wood, furniture, and textile value chains (e.g., Cambodia and Vietnam)
  • Agrifood and food processing (strong demand across multiple markets)
  • Services and technology (notably the Philippines and Malaysia)
  • Healthcare and medical devices (med-tech) (notably Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia)

Two sector spotlights made the trends very concrete:

  • Agrifood and F&B: demand, scale, and investment pull

SOA shared market signals showing continued growth in the region’s food and beverage economy. In addition, the session linked this to urbanization, rising incomes, and changing consumption habits.

  • Med-tech: growth drivers are structural, not temporary

In healthcare, the session emphasized long-term growth of drivers. These included aging populations, healthcare capacity upgrades, and fast-expanding digital health. Therefore, med-tech demand is supported by fundamentals, not hype.

From Insight to Execution: the “5Ps” and SOA’s Solutions

Market opportunity is only useful if execution is realistic. That is why SOA presented a practical approach built on the 5Ps”: Preparation, Perseverance, Prudence, Presence, and Professionalism.

The 5ps Solutions

Source of Asia service framework covering market entry, sourcing, corporate setup, and HR solutions, etc.

To support companies across ASEAN, SOA summarized its service scope across three pillars:

Market expansion and go-to-market support Sourcing and supply chain services Corporate and HR services

  • Partner and distributor identification.
  • B2B prospecting and meeting set-up.
  • Commercial representation and local coordination.
  • Strategic sourcing missions and supplier shortlisting.
  • Supply chain audits and improvement plans.
  • Quality control, factory assessments, and compliance support.
  • Export and logistics coordination.

  • Process coordination and on-the-ground execution support.

Moreover, to keep the session grounded, SOA also referenced real project situations.

  • Decowraps (Vietnam): a supply chain reinforcement project focused on supplier development, compliance, and operational upgrades.
  • Medical devices (ASEAN entry): a structured approach to country-by-country entry, including regulatory understanding, distributor targeting, and B2B meeting execution across priority markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia.

Look Ahead: What to Do Next for ASEAN 2026

ASEAN 2026 will reward companies that prepare early. However, success still depends on local execution. Therefore, the best next step is to align strategy with real market conditions: partners, compliance, costs, and operational capacity.
